Poster for a charity deal for people with inadequate healthcare.

Looks blurry on account of shrinkage.

Gonna do the letterhead tomorrow.

I dreamed about tennis, but it was actually pretty good (...ESPN was on the TV, I'm pretty sure normally I wouldn't have dreamed of tennis) and I had fallen asleep to the sultry sounds of Keith Olbermann.

Three entries in one day. Suck it up, livejournal, I post whatever I want.

Two things.

1) Happy Spocksgiving

2) I'm offended.

I have to get up at 4am tomorrow so went to bed at 7. I had a horribly boring dream about cleaning up after work only it wasn't work it was my house (but you know didn't look like my house) but I still had to get it all clean before my mom came home.

And inexplicably my grandfather had a doctor's appointment on the 2nd floor of my house (we don't have a second floor) and at one point I drank from a bottle. Like, a baby bottle. \:|

Wat.

Going back to sleep now.

Here is a meme.

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.

I need a new job.

I have no skills.

I feel like a high school dropout looking for work that's more than 1000/mo.

I have Summa Cum Laude Bachelor's Degree and all it's gotten me is 5,500 dollars to my name and 15,000 dollars in inventory that no one fucking wants.

I can't afford to promote myself because I don't make any money.

I don't have time to do artwork because I'm trying to make more money.

I actually considered vocational schools like ITT Tech or Kaplan.

And it will be here on my doorstep when I get home from work.

The following is the 5 year old in me reacting to this splendid news:

Staw Twek, indeed.

In other news, today started out pretty well actually. I had to get up and go to Greenwood to deliver 3 of my prints to a lawyer firm where the guy I was delivering to apparently forgot to leave money at the front desk, but you know what I don't really care because 1) I like driving (even though I got lost lmfao), 2) I got Dunkin' Donuts on the way there and I loooove their coffee, and 3) I found a 20 dollar bill between my seat and the center console so SCORE! I dunno if the money was mine originally, I don't really ever have cash so it might be FREE MONEY! Or it might be that 20 that I was short last week at work, but I doubt it because it would have had to like been glued to my pants somehow. What.

In other news, not sure if I'll paint today, but I'd really like to. My mom is on my case about doing this thing for her charity thing so I might sketch it up at least so she'll be happy for a little while.

But I will ask you kids to do something for me, if you're reading this RIGHT NOW pick 3 words or ideas you'd like to see me illustrate. I'm running out of ideas and my work is getting less and less narritive so I need something to do.

Um, step one, pompadour monster.

Sorry it took me so long to do this one, guise. I've had so much to do unrelated to Star Trek (astounding, I know) including bageling and getting my art scene under way BUT during my lunch break every day I diligently read some Killing Time to, well, kill time. I know you're eager, so let's get the styrofoam boulder rolling.

Get ready for the slash of your life. )

I figured it out, the top coat had frozen overnight on the hood of my car. I thought it looked extra frosty, but I chocked it up to not seeing snow in a while. I think I'll just touch up my acrylic and top coat it again but this time have it dry in the garage where it can't freeze.

Um just so you know, not like you cared lol

I dreamed Kirk got impregnated by a mosquito alien that looked like the Rayman mosquito bug. This didn't happen in my dream, but Kirk getting pissed at Spock like that just seems so plausible in my head.

I have my own special brand of crack.

Well my joy lasted like an hour.

So the car frosted over this morning and I guess the temperature difference between that and the hot engine made my paint crack. Not sure if it's just the top coat that's the problem or all the acrylics. Seems like the top coat chipped everywhere, though, even on the orange parts which were spray paint to begin with.

The only solution I can think of is to sand it all off and re-paint it with spray paint.

Which will take exactly forever.

Rad day, guys. Rad day.

I said fuck that stripe, we're doing subtle.

I know it looks green in the b/g, but it's actually a subtle rust orange. Actual photos of a few paintings coming soon (you know with the right colors and stuff), gotta wait til daylight and the camera battery charges.

I feel kinda bad because I love this painting so much. I mean, I don't like being full of myself, but this thing is pretty fing rad in my humble opinion. Might add some drool on the bald dude though, balance it out some.

Hey kids! I have a bunch of my prints listed on Etsy now for you to peruse. Not all my prints are up, just the majority of the 11x14in ones. I have 16x20s too, so if you're interested let me know and I'll list them faster.

There's like 20 new items and they're much more affordable than when I only had originals. I know I know, people are strapped for cash, but couldn't hurt, right?

Well.

I didn't get the job :|

Surprise surprise, right? He says he's gonna keep my resume in the event he wants to hire more designers in the next year, but I'm praying I'll have a better job by the time Pam moves here in spring/summer. Since I absolutely fucking hate the one I have now.

I guess the good news is my raise will go through next pay period? Idk I was praying I'd have a job before I could even make it to the raise.

What sucks is I thought everything was going to fall into place if I got that job, it was an awesome work environment where I could use artistic skill and everything seemed so great and perfect, no wonder I didn't get it. Karma doesn't like me that much.

Dear universe,

Next time you dangle something nice in front of me where I feel contentment is just at my fingertips, how about you don't take it away again like a child tormenting a dog on a chain with a biscuit?

Just give me the god damn Milk Bone.

With love,

Sparky Mao

So I've been working on this painting for like ever. Like 2+ months or something on and off.

Starts out like this, right?

Okay so I just came back from the plaquemaker interview which was super quick but I think it was positive. He said he was looking for creative type peoples and I like to call myself a peoples so I think it's definitely possible.

I hope I get this job. He says after a probationary period of doing well I'd get a raise, benefits, and even 401k option. I made sure he knew my degree was in Illustration but he told me that as long as I had the basics of computer stuff (photoshop etc) they'd teach me stuff like this program "Freehand". Told me it was all self-motivated and they always have work to do which ROCKS because I HATE when I don't have anything to do. Like when I worked for Allegiant and half the time they would be like "oh hey we don't have anything for you to do brb party in the lounge" and I just wanted to enter data. Honestly, as long as I'm allowed to have one headphone or some soft music, I'm good to go all day.

I just sent a thank you email for meeting up with me and now I play the waiting and praying game~

And they have a DOG! A DOG! Idk if it was a company dog or an employee's dog, but it was super cute. Barooing me when I walked in aww. And the dress code is like "eh, whatever". Hahaha my interviewer was wearing jeans xD

I'm super excited to maybe have a job that I can have work all day (sometimes even til 7pm! More money!), can wear clothes I already have, can use my creative impulses, and get paid a lot more than I do right now.

Also, Mac computers available. I am a fan.
